WHAT IS THE KEY INGREDIENT?

If you were in the middle of a conversation with a friend and, all of a sudden, the conversation turned toward Faith, and the friend asked you, “How can I become a Christian too?”  Would you know what to say and what to do to help them make the most important decision of their life?

1 Peter 3:15 says, “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect...” Are you prepared to give someone an answer as to why you have the hope that you have – that comes from your faith in God?

Years ago, I came across a survey of several 1,000 Christians that showed that nearly 85% of self-described “Believers in Christ” had little or no clue as to how to share their faith and to lead another person into a faith decision of their own. That’s an amazing revelation considering one of the main responsibilities of a Follower of Christ (all of us) is to Preach the Gospel, Share our Faith, and Make Disciples. Those instructions are directly from Jesus himself.  Yet, when was the last time you had a spiritual conversation about your Faith with someone who most likely wasn’t a Believer?

As a church, locally and globally, our health and our growth is dependent upon new people coming to Faith in Christ. When you study the life of the early Church in the New Testament, you see that sharing the Good News and helping people develop and grow in their faith was at the heart of everything they did. It was a key ingredient of their existence.

ALC 401

Our Discipleship process (101-401) is designed to teach and equip each one of us with the basic tools we need to become a mature Believer and experience the life-giving Joy of following Jesus. Class 401 is designed to help each one of us with the motivation, resources, and the confidence to share our faith with people we encounter in our everyday lives. You will be able to confidently answer anyone that asks you, “How can I become a Christian, too?”.  There is nothing more exciting than to help someone make the decision to commit their life to Jesus. By doing so, you have helped them make a decision that will change their eternity and very likely change the lives of the people around them. If you have never taken Class 401, I encourage you to sign up right now for next Tuesday, March 25, 7:00-9:00, here at ALC.
