WHAT A FATHER WE HAVE
Father's Day invokes a lot of memories for all of us. Some are great memories of our fathers, but some people do not have good memories of their fathers and their home life as children. Some people do not have any memories of their father - good or bad. Some people still have their fathers to celebrate with them on Father’s Day, while some of us only have memories to look back on.
I remember what Father’s Day meant to me as a child, but now, as a dad and a grandpa, Father’s Day has a whole different meaning. I understand what my Dad meant when he told me to enjoy our kids while they were young because the time would go by so fast. Yes, the time has gone by way too fast, and it seems that it goes faster with each passing day. That’s why I’m so thankful to know that I have a Heavenly Father who is loving and compassionate. He longs to show us His love and He longs to have a relationship with us. So, even as the time flies by, we can be sure of where we will be when our time in this life ends - we will be with the loving and compassionate Father who sent His Son to die in our place to open up the possibility of being with Him for eternity.
Sunday we focused on Psalm 103:13-14: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him; for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust.”
We saw how our Father shows us His compassion when He...
1. …Remembers we are dust
2. ...Guides us in His way
3. ...Shows us His grace, mercy, and love
4. ...Disciplines us
My prayer for each one of you is that you might come to know the love and compassion of our Heavenly Father and that each one of us would be people who would share His love and compassion with all the people that we meet.
May God bless you!
