A DAILY REMINDER

A Fully Committed Heart

This past Sunday you were able to see an example of my creative and artistic ability from elementary school. Actually, it was an example of my lack of creative and artistic ability! I had an assignment due, and we were given 6 weeks to complete that assignment, but I had forgotten all about it because I wasn’t a very dedicated student. At that time, I was sure I was going to be a major league baseball player, so school wasn’t that important to me.

Sunday, we looked at the life of King Asa and saw what it means to have a heart that is fully committed to the LORD. His story is found in 2 Chronicles 14-16. Asa started out great, but in the end, he wandered away from his commitment to the LORD.

We saw how a fully committed heart:

1. Puts everything in order; so, we asked ourselves if we had put everything in order in our own lives, beginning with putting the LORD number 1.

2. Trusts in the LORD completely; so, we asked ourselves if we were trusting in the LORD or in other people or other things.

3. Stays committed until the end; so, we asked ourselves if we were allowing ourselves to slow down, to coast to the finish line instead of running our race until the end.

4. Becomes more like Jesus - (2 Corinthians 3:13, 18); so, we asked ourselves if we are becoming more like Jesus or less like Him; if His light is shining brighter in us; or if it is fading.

The challenge for us is to keep going forward day by day because we have an enemy that wants to discourage us and slow us down, but greater is He who is in us than he that is in the world! Praise the LORD for that promise! May God bless you as you day by day commit your heart fully to the LORD.
