GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES
IT’S SPRINGTIME (ALMOST)
The transition from the cold, icy, snowy and gloomy days of winter should soon be coming to an end – well at least for people that don’t live in the south. That transition from winter to spring is also significant for us here at ALC. It means that our annual Spring Carnival is upon us. As a matter of fact, it will happen this coming Saturday, March 1, 11-2, here in our very own backyard.
The Spring Carnival is specifically designed to bless the families of our community. If we are to take the words of Jesus seriously when He told his disciples (& us) to “Go and make disciples...preach the Good News to everyone everywhere...you will be my witnesses...” then we need to put some action behind our words and desires. By inviting the people of our community to our backyard and providing several hours of Fun, Food and Fellowship we are opening the door to conversations and a relationship that “will” lead to more people hearing the Good News and moving toward becoming a Disciple of Jesus Christ.
The “Blessing” part is that it is all FREE for the community, which is made possible by some very generous people in our congregation. If you would like to be a part of that blessing and contribute toward our outreaches, please let us know.
WHEN THE TRUTH SETS YOU FREE!
This past Sunday we started a new series, “When the Truth Sets You Free.” We will be doing a deep dive into the process of experiencing freedom from the things that hold us captive by shining the Light of Truth into our lives and our situations. Each week we will have a special verse that we will be memorizing together. This week’s verse is:
Colossians 3:10, "You have begun to live the new life, in which you are being made new and are becoming like the One who made you. This new life brings you the true knowledge of God."
If the Truth is going to set us free then we need to know the truth, believe the truth, and apply the truth to our lives. Having the Truth of God’s Word in our minds and hearts is vital to our joy and freedom. Let’s do this together.
