OUR ONLY HOPE AND STRENGTH
FULLY COMMITTED
This past Sunday, as we celebrated the grand opening of our new auditorium & foyer space, we also looked ahead to this next season of ministry for us here at ALC. We don’t know what the future holds for us, but we do know WHO holds the future. We also know that in God’s sovereignty, He allows, and He causes, all things to happen to bring about the events that fulfill prophecies spoken 2,000-3,000 years ago, that we read about in the Bible today. That’s why we don’t live in fear and anxiety about the future. But, we also don’t just sit back and do nothing as we wait for it all to unfold.
God calls each of us to be an active participant in what He is doing in the world. Our participation requires us to be Fully Committed to the calling God has placed on us as the church. If we are going to not only survive but thrive in the weeks, months, and years ahead, as a church, we will need to be Fully Committed: to each other, to truth, to helping people find Jesus, and to prayer. Without all of those commitments, we will find ourselves struggling to understand and how to best navigate the troubled waters ahead.
Jesus told us in John 16:33 that “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.” That’s why our first and most important commitment is to hang onto and live for Jesus every moment of every day for the rest of our lives. Jesus is our only hope and strength as we move forward toward the Day of our Blessed Hope being revealed. Sometimes we don’t know that Jesus is all we need, until Jesus is all we got!
