THE POWER OF PRAYER

THE POWER OF PRAYING TOGETHER

One of the most powerful aspects of being Better Together is when we pray with and for each other. There’s nothing more encouraging than knowing you have people in your life who know you and care about you enough to listen to you and pray for you when you’re in a tough spot. Having someone who is a phone call away, or a meet-up in a coffee shop, and takes the time to sincerely “stand in the gap” and pray for you is what makes for a strong relationship. We all need someone in our lives who we can trust to share our personal information and struggles. Someone who will encourage us and pray for us without judging us or betraying that trust.

The other powerful aspect of prayer is when we not only pray for each other, but when we can pray with each other. Jesus said that when two or three people come together and agree with each other in prayer, the Father listens and answers their prayers. When we pray together with other people, not only is there power in our prayers, but it becomes an encouragement to each person involved in the prayers. We learn so much about people when we hear them pray. Hearing other people pray encourages our confidence and our faith in our own prayers. It also helps us to better articulate what’s on our hearts that we may not have had the words to express.  So many of the words and phrases I use in my prayers I have learned from praying with other people.

Praying for each other and praying with each other are great examples of what it means to be BETTER TOGETHER. One of the most practical and powerful ways to experience both of these is in the context of a Small Group. Our Small Groups are designed to experience personal and practical expressions of the ministry of Church. Whether we study the Bible together, pray together, eat together, or just have some good fun and fellowship together, the key word is – TOGETHER! Being a part of an on-going small group is simply “A group of people that do life together.”

How do I get started? Our Connections (Small Groups) Pastor is Nathan Grieser. He will help you to get involved in a group, which just might mean you get the opportunity to gather a few people and start a brand-new group. You can email Nathan and request more information – nathan@alcsrq.com.
